March on the Sunshine Coast has its own particular magic. The humidity starts to ease, the light turns amber in the afternoons, and there is a collective shift — a quiet reaching for something new. Autumn is the season of the considered change. And this year, the world’s most exciting hair trends are arriving at exactly the right moment.

Paris Fashion Week wrapped just this week — and the front rows delivered. From Margot Robbie’s breathtaking new cut at Chanel to the beige blonde tones taking over everywhere from Sydney to the Noosa Heads boardwalk, here at Ms Monaco Hair Society we’ve been watching closely. Below is your guide to everything happening in hair right now, and how to make it yours here on the Coast.

The Margot Bob

THE CUT OF THE SEASON

As seen on Margot Robbie at Chanel AW26, Paris — March 2026

On the 9th of March, Margot Robbie arrived at the Chanel autumn/winter 2026 show at the Grand Palais in Paris and did what only a handful of people manage each season: she stopped the fashion world in its tracks. Gone were the cascading, Bronte-esque waves she wore throughout her Wuthering Heights press tour. In their place: a jaw-grazing lob with wispy, broken-in fringe, softly textured waves, and the kind of nonchalant finish that only comes from hairstylists who truly know their craft.

The look was created by celebrity hairstylist Cervando Maldonado — known for his transformative work with Miley Cyrus, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Kristen Stewart — with styling by Bryce Scarlett. Together they crafted something perfectly of this moment: a lob landing at the exact mid-point between the jawline and collarbone, with piece-y, intentionally imperfect fringe that Maldonado himself described as “broken” — textured and natural, never blunt. The colour, freshened by colourist Jacob Schwartz, reads cooler and brighter — a soft ash-touched blonde that sits beautifully in the shifting autumn light.

“A modern look for spring that leads effortlessly into summer. The length is versatile — easy to wear down, easy to pull back, and always chic.”

— Cervando Maldonado, speaking to Vogue

What makes this style so immediately covetable is the way it splits the difference between two classic silhouettes — longer than a traditional bob, yet free of the weight and formality of longer hair. The result is a deeply French-girl aesthetic, reminiscent of icons like Jane Birkin and Belgian singer Angele, that translates beautifully to life on the Sunshine Coast. Worn with a subtle root smudge and effortless wave texture, it looks as though the sea styled it for you — which, frankly, is the dream.

This cut has dominated every beauty conversation since Paris, and it’s landed in our books in a big way. Autumn is the ideal time to make the move — cooler mornings mean more styling time, and the softened light of the season does something extraordinary to a well-crafted lob.

How We Make it Yours

The Margot bob is beautifully adaptable. We’ll refine the length to your most flattering point — whether that sits closer to the jaw or grazes the collarbone — then build in soft internal movement that allows the style to air-dry naturally through the day or blow out with gorgeous volume for evening. If a fringe appeals, we’ll design it to feel intentionally undone, framing your features without overpowering them. For colour clients, a subtle root smudge in cool or warm ash blonde takes this look to another level entirely.

The French Bob

THE CLASSIC REBORN

The defining Parisian silhouette of 2026

If Paris Fashion Week had an unofficial hairstyle for 2026, it would be the French bob. Shorter and more sculpted than the lob silhouette, it sits at or just below the chin — and has been appearing on the most stylish heads throughout fashion month with an insouciance that only the French seem to manage effortlessly. At Acne Studios, Saint Laurent and across the cobblestones of the Marais, it was everywhere.

The 2026 iteration is softer than seasons past. Sharp, severe edges have given way to something altogether more wearable: gentle curves at the ends, subtle texture through the body, and the option of a delicate curtain fringe or wispy face-framing pieces that modernise the silhouette without overpowering it. As hairstylist and GHD educator Akela Douglass put it recently, the French bob taps into fashion’s ongoing love affair with effortless Parisian style — polished, but never precious.

“The French bob is the haircut that makes the wearer look as though they woke up looking precisely this good.”

For Sunshine Coast living, the French bob offers a particularly clever kind of elegance. As we ease into our autumn months — warm days still, with evenings that finally beg for a layer — a chin-length style that stays off the neck while looking effortlessly polished is genuinely practical. It moves beautifully from Saturday morning at the markets to a long dinner on the waterfront, requiring almost nothing in between. It suits straight hair with clean geometric precision, and textured hair with unexpected, editorial charm.

Designed Around You

A French bob lives or dies by weight distribution and balance — and that’s where our precision matters most. We work carefully with your natural texture, face shape and lifestyle to ensure the shape flatters in every light. If fringe is on your mind, we’ll take time before we begin to consider what will truly suit your bone structure. The result should always feel like a more elevated, completely natural version of you.

Mousey Blonde & Beige Tones

THE COLOUR STORY

  As championed by Hailey Bieber

Set aside the icy platinum and high-contrast highlights of seasons past — autumn 2026’s most compelling colour story is far subtler, and infinitely more wearable. The mousey blonde, also known as a beige blonde, works with your natural root rather than fighting it. Dimensional without being dramatic, luminous without being loud. Think cashmere, not chrome. And it is, without question, the most-requested shade in our studio right now.

Hailey Bieber has been the defining force behind this movement, and her formula is elegant in its simplicity: colour that appears effortless because it genuinely honours the natural base. The result reads warm, slightly ashy and entirely lived-in. What makes it particularly perfect for Australian autumn is the way it transitions: as summer tans begin to soften through March and April, beige blonde tones keep skin looking luminous and warm, without the jarring contrast of heavily lightened hair against a fading glow.

“It’s about personalised, lived-in luminosity — colour that makes hair look healthy, expensive and real. Colour that elevates your natural shade rather than masking it.”

The mousey or beige blonde suits a wide range of skin tones when the undertone is dialled in with care — warmer for olive and golden complexions, ashier for fair and cool skin. The key lies in the application: fine babylights through the face-framing pieces, a seamless root melt with no harsh line of demarcation, and a toning gloss to seal the colour with a beautiful shine. It grows out gracefully, which makes it as practical as it is polished — a rare combination.

The Beige Blonde Formula

This colour is built entirely on precision and personalisation. We begin by mapping your natural base and skin tone to determine the exact beige or mousey blonde that will look as though you were simply born with it. We use fine babylights, a seamless root melt and a carefully selected toning gloss to keep the shade creamy and beautifully dimensional. A maintenance visit every 10-12 weeks keeps it at its most flattering — and it always is.

Layers, Blowouts & the French Twist

THE STYLING MOMENT

A beautiful cut and a considered colour deserve to be styled with intention. This season, that means leaning into texture, movement and a few timeless techniques that are enjoying a genuine renaissance. Autumn is the perfect season for it — warm enough to air-dry on the way to the beach, cool enough in the evenings to reach for a brush and a little heat.

  Layers & Movement

Carefully placed layers are the invisible architecture behind the best hair of the season. They add movement and lightness without sacrificing length — the difference between hair that simply sits and hair that genuinely lives. This season we’re designing layers to work with your natural texture, allowing waves and curls to find their most flattering shape and giving blowouts extraordinary volume and bounce. Face-framing layers in particular are having a moment: a few well-placed pieces at the front can be quietly transformative.

  Curling & Blowouts

The blowout is back in its most luxurious form — voluminous, bouncy, gloriously glossy. As the humidity softens on the Sunshine Coast through autumn, this is the season when your blowout actually holds. For curling, the goal right now is texture over perfection: loose, piece-y waves created by alternating direction and leaving the ends natural. Both the effortless beach wave and the polished rounded blowout look spectacular against the season’s softly blended colour stories. Ask about our express blowout service.

  The French Twist

The French twist is having its most elegant moment in years. Once the preserve of formal occasions, it has been reclaimed as an everyday updo of quiet sophistication — worn slightly undone, with face-framing pieces left loose and the structure deliberately imperfect. It works beautifully on the season’s bobs and lobs when there’s length at the nape, and is absolutely made for longer layers. The result looks effortlessly Parisian — an apt choice for a season that is, in every way, channelling France.

  At-Home Essentials

Maintaining the season’s texture between visits comes down to a few thoughtful products. A quality wave spray on damp hair before air-drying delivers that lived-in, sea-kissed finish without heat — perfect for Coast mornings. For blowouts, a round brush and light volumising mousse are all you need. A violet or pearl gloss treatment used at home monthly keeps beige blondes creamy and luminous between appointments. Our team at Ms Monaco is always happy to build a personalised product prescription just for you.

“The most beautiful hair this season isn’t styled into submission — it’s given just enough to look as though it required no effort at all.”

Autumn on the Sunshine Coast is short, warm and golden. Your hair should be too.

Whether you’re ready for a new shape, a colour refresh or simply the most beautiful blowout of the season, the team at Ms Monaco Hair Society would love to welcome you in. Come and see what this autumn can look like for you.
