Hair Extension FAQ

How long does my hair need to be to get hair extensions?

To ensure you get a beautiful, natural blend, we recommend that your natural hair is at least shoulder or collar bone length.

Do extensions cause hair loss?

The short answer is no. While some methods of extensions can result in hair loss, our hair extensions will cause the least amount of damage because there is no heat, glue or tape involved.

How long do the extensions last?

Your hair extensions can last anywhere between 4-12 months – this varies depending on how closely you follow the aftercare guidelines, your personal lifestyle and your maintenance routine.

In order to maintain the health of your extensions, we recommend you revisit the salon to have your hair extensions re-lifted every 6 to 8 weeks. Leaving your re-lifts any longer may compromise the integrity of your hair.

How often do I need to visit the salon for maintenance?

Can I use heated styling tools on my extensions?

As the extensions are made from 100% natural human hair, you are able to use your straighteners, curling wand and blow-dryer on them. It’s important to treat these extensions like your own hair, so be sure to use a quality heat protectant prior to your hot styling tools.

What lengths of extensions are available?

We have three options available:

Can I swim with my extensions in?

We recommend that you keep your hair up and out of the water when you swim. If you do decide to swim with your extensions in, please be aware that this is at your own risk. This is because extensions cannot repair themselves, as oppose to your natural hair, which can.

Below are some preventative measures you can take to minimise damage to your extensions:

Rinse your hair with clean water from a shower before swimming – this will saturate the strands of hair, so they soak up fewer minerals.
Cover your hair with a leave-in conditioner, then braid your hair or secure it in a bun to minimise tangling while swimming. If your hair does become tangled, gently brush out the knots with a treatment and wet brush.
We do not recommend swimming in chlorine as this will damage and discolour your extensions.

If the professional advice given by your stylist is not followed, you may need to purchase new extensions as this will shorten their lifespan.
